Part One: A Message from the Future Inspired by “A message from the Future” video from AOC, and guided by political and civic leaders and every day Portland citizens from all walks of life, attendees embark on a journey to envision our world after the Green New Deal. A future where everyday people participate in building and enjoying a sustainable, equitable, and just future for Portland, Oregon, and the nation.
Part Two: The Road to the Green New Deal Through short Ted-style talks, local leaders and innovators in the climate justice space chart a path from here to there, showing us that this CAN be done and that we KNOW HOW to do it and that the movement is waiting for them to join us. All the attendee needs to do is decide where to plug in.
Throughout Part One and Two: Taking YOUR first Step on the Road to the GND Through guided activities with leaders from Sunrise and other local organizations, attendees bring their vision of their role in the movement and find where that vision matches up with opportunities locally and nationally.
ASL interpreters will be on stage, and available for breakout groups. Please let us know upon arrival if you would like interpreting during your breakout conversations.
